Privacy and Confidentiality

Policy Updated on July 1, 2007
WE MOVE, as an accredited provider of online CME activities, has established and adheres to strict policies regarding privacy and confidentiality. Under no circumstances will WE MOVE disclose a user's name, street address, e-mail, phone number, or WE MOVE web activities to any person, agency, organization, or other entity or than those outlined under "Data Types" below. WE MOVE recognizes its responsibilities regarding privacy and strict confidentiality.

If you are a physician or health care professional, it is possible that details regarding your medical specialty, city and state of origin, or other non-personal data points may be culled from our online database for the purpose of needs assessment and activity fulfillment. This information is useful in assessing the ongoing educational requirements of the medical community.

Data Types

Unrestricted data are data that may be published with individual identification. WE MOVE typically does not collect unrestricted data.

Restricted data are data that may not be published as it contains personal, individual identification. Industry funders do not receive restricted data. However, restricted data may be released at the discretion of WE MOVE's Executive Director or her designee to qualified individuals and organizations who agree to protect it. Most often, the release of restricted data may apply to procurement of credit hours for CME. For example, for nurses seeking CEUs for a WE MOVE activity, their names and other contact data will be shared with AANN (or other accrediting body) so that the learner may receive appropriate continuing medical education credits. A statement of expected distribution is placed in all CME activities when WE MOVE is not the only accredited provider.

Confidential data are data that may not be released outside of WE MOVE with individual identification, except with permission. Individuals may grant WE MOVE permission to release confidential data that describe themselves or their experience of living with a movement disorder. This permission may be received via e-mail, letter, or over the phone. If received via phone, WE MOVE must document the call.
