Pramipexole improves depression independently of motor benefit, according to this report.

Forty-one patients with mild-to-moderate depression and taking levodopa received either pramipexole or pergolide up to 4.5 mg/day for six weeks. Motor improvement was significant on both treatments, but was not different between the two treatments. Both groups had a significant reduction in depression on the Zung self-rated scale. Pramipexole-treated patients, but not pergolide-treated patients, showed significant reduction in depression on the MADRS scale, rated by a blinded psychologist, effects which remained after accounting for motor improvements.

2. MAO-A and MAO-B inhibitors in the treatment of depression in Parkinson's disease

P-TU-242

Fifty-two patients on 10 mg/day selegiline received 450 mg/day of the MAO-A inhibitor moclobemide. Depression scores improved in 41 patients after 3 months of treatment. Eleven patients withdrew, due to sleep disturbance, increased blood pressure, or lack of response.
