Restless Legs Syndrome
Anticonvulsants
Anticonvulsant medications inhibit neuronal activity and are primarily prescribed for the treatment of disease states that are characterized by abnormally increased CNS activity. Carbamazepine, gabapentin (Neurontin® from), lamotrigine (Lamictal®), valproate (Depakene® from Abbott Labs), levetiracetem (Keppra®) and pregabalin (Lyrica®) have been used most in the treatment of RLS, although the studies showing their efficacy included few subjects or were open label.
