Pediatric Movement Disorders - Diagnostic Methods
PT/OT/Neuropsychology
More detailed evaluations may be performed by physical therapy, occupational therapy, or neuropsychology. Neuropsychologist may perform a detailed set of tests designed to measure cognitive, motor, or sensory function. This may be compared to the normal function for the child's age, and it may be compared over time to ensure that the child is not losing any previously developed skills. Physical and occupational therapy evaluations allow for a detailed assessment of strengths or weaknesses in gross motor and fine motor skills, as well as how any weaknesses may contribute to difficulty of function in day-to-day life. Often, assistive devices may be suggested to help correct a motor problem or improve general functioning.
